We are proud to present for the first time ever available to collectors exclusive samples of authentic moondust from the historic Apollo 11 landing site - The Sea of Tranquility ! This fantastic opportunity will probably never be available again since most of the lunar material especially on Apollo 11 was put in quarantine and any artifacts were especially cleaned to limit the danger of alien microbes. (this procedures was dropped on later Apollo flights as scientists found out that lunar material is free of any organic cells) The moondust was recovered from the actual camera magazine that Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin used to photograph the historic first moonwalk - most of the famous Apollo 11 lunar surface photos were on this color film roll including the famous image we have chosen as the background on our presentation certificate. It was Mr. Slezak's task to take care of the development of the historic film rolls after the mission when he accidentally got in touch with lunar dust on the camera magazine that - unknown to him - dropped to the lunar surface shortly before Neil Armstrong got back inside the Lunar Module. Slezak was then put into quarantine along with the astronauts. As a memento to that incident he got the original Apollo 11 presentation from the astronauts which he sold in 2001 in a public space auction (where we bought it then). The closeup shot of a 3mm sample a buyer sent us is especially exciting - it clearly shows most of the minerals you find in lunar material. This photo has been made with a home amateur microscope and a regular digital camera! The scanning electron microscope photo of a glass spherule shows a detailed image of a typical glass spherule like on the tape - it's amazing what you can find there. On our presentation the swatch is mounted in 'reverse' so that the dust is facing upwards (please dont worry about it coming off...it is securely bonded to the original tape). We then cover this with a convenient yet almost impossible to see flap of transparent archive Mylar which can be lifted so that you can actually touch the moondust with your hands, then when released it falls back flatly to cover the swatch and keep it clean and protected - perfect to even hang it on a wall ! Notes: The swatches are triangular in shape and at least 3mm on the largest side. The presentation certificate and documentation are 8x10 inches in size - perfect to mat and frame !
