His specialist attention to detail in capturing man in relation to his environment led to NASA_commisioning him to document America’s early space missions. As the world watched in black and white, Calle was capturing the moonlanding in colour. He was the only artist allowed to shadow the Apollo XI_crew on the morning of their flight, resulting in a portfolio which the cameras never saw. Paul Calle has designed over 30 stamps for the US_Postal Service including the First Man on the Moon stamp, the 25th Anniversary of the Moonlanding, Helen Keller, Douglas MacArthur and more.
