1980 Aviation Firsts cover (FF21a) commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the First UK Regular Transatlantic Passenger Flights. Flown on a Short Empire Flying Boat from Poole-Botwood-Montreal-New York carrying mail, despatches and official passengers. Then flown on the 40th Anniversary from Heathrow to JFK in a 747, then, on 23rd September 1980, this well travelled cover was flown on Concorde from Heathrow to JFK. Bears a red Concorde cachet on the front and two Kennedy airport receiving stamps on the reverse. |
